Most Pakistani shaadis now happen between October and March, and the 2026–27 season has a hard stop: Ramadan 2027. If you are choosing shaadi dates now, here is the whole season mapped against the Islamic calendar, so you can pick a weekend, book the hall and send the cards in time.
Quick answer: the main season runs from now until Ramadan, which is expected to start around 8 February 2027. The busiest dates are December weekends; November and January are easier and often cheaper. After Eid ul Fitr (around 9–10 March 2027) there is a second window until Muharram begins around 6 June 2027. All Islamic dates depend on the moon and can shift by a day in Pakistan.
The 2026–27 season by Islamic month
- Jumada al-Ula 1448: starts around 12 October 2026. The season opens; good availability.
- Jumada al-Akhirah: starts around 11 November 2026. Popular, especially late November.
- Rajab: starts around 10 December 2026. Peak season: December weekends and the winter holidays.
- Shaban: starts around 9 January 2027. Busy again, as families finish before Ramadan.
- Ramadan: expected from around 8 February 2027. Most families don't hold weddings.
- Shawwal: from Eid ul Fitr, around 9–10 March 2027. A short spring window opens after Eid.
- Dhul Qadah and Dhul Hijjah: from around 8 April 2027, with Eid ul Adha around 16–17 May. Possible, but it is getting hot.
- Muharram 1449: from around 6 June 2027. Many families avoid it, especially the first ten days.
These dates are astronomical estimates; the Ramadan and Eid estimates were reported by ProPakistani in August 2026. Pakistan's moon sighting committee may announce a day later, so don't print a date that falls right on a month boundary until it is confirmed.

Why the season keeps moving earlier
A few years ago "shaadi season" meant December. Now it starts in October. The Express Tribune described this shift in "October is the new December": families spread events across October to March, and venues reportedly charge up to 20% more in December than in November. With Ramadan in early February, January is also squeezed, so expect November and late January to fill up faster than usual this year.
The most popular weekends
Most families hold the barat or walima on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. These are the ones that go first:
- Late November: Fridays 20 and 27 November 2026. Pleasant weather, lower prices.
- December: Fridays 4, 11, 18 and 25 December 2026. Friday 25 December is Quaid-e-Azam Day, a public holiday, and is always in demand.
- Winter holidays: the last week of December and early January suit families flying in from abroad.
- Before Ramadan: Friday 5 to Sunday 7 February 2027 is the last weekend. Friday 5 February is Kashmir Day, also a public holiday.
- After Eid: Fridays 19 and 26 March 2027, once the Eid visits are over.

How far ahead to book
- Four to six months: hall and caterer for December weekends in Lahore, Karachi or Islamabad.
- Three months: photographer, mehndi artist and outfits.
- Six to eight weeks: tell overseas relatives with a save the date message so they can book flights.
- Four to six weeks: send the cards for every event.
- The week before: a reminder message with the venue location.

Picking the order of events
A common pattern for a four-day shaadi is dholki earlier in the week, mehndi on Thursday, barat or nikah and rukhsati on Friday or Saturday, and walima on Sunday. If you have only a weekend, families combine events: nikah and rukhsati on one day, walima the next. Whatever you choose, put the dates on the cards in the same order as the programme, so guests are not confused.
If the nikah is in a masjid, check its timings around Jummah prayers before you fix a Friday afternoon nikah. And before the day, read through the nikah nama, column by column, so the mehr and conditions are agreed in advance.

Weather, fog and travel
The date is not only about the calendar. A few things that catch families out every winter:
- Fog in Punjab: from late December to January, dense fog can close motorways at night and delay flights into Lahore, Islamabad and Multan. For a late-night barat, keep the venue close to where guests stay, and tell out-of-town guests to travel in daylight.
- Cold evenings: outdoor mehndis and lawn events in December and January need heaters and an indoor backup.
- Karachi: December to February is the most comfortable time for outdoor events; by April it is hot and humid again.
- Exams: board exams for Matric and Inter usually start in spring. If cousins are in Class 9 to 12, a February or March date clashes with their preparation.
Once the dates are fixed
Send the dates out early. On ChatWrapper you can make a shaadi card with up to four events on one card, or a separate mehndi, barat and walima card in the same design, in English or Urdu, and download them for WhatsApp or as a PDF. For guests who keep asking "where is it and what time?", an invitation website gives them a countdown, the programme for every event with Google Maps directions and an RSVP button, all on one link.
