Punjab's School Education Department has opened STI Jobs 2026: paid School Teacher Intern placements in government primary, elementary, high and higher secondary schools across the province. Thousands of graduates are applying this week, and the window is short.
Quick answer: STI interns get Rs38,000 to Rs45,000 a month, depending on the school level. You need to be 21 to 45 years old with a BA/BSc (primary) or an MA, MSc or BS (Hons) in the relevant subject (high schools). You apply online on the official STI portal by Sunday 18 October 2026, 11:59 pm. Merit is mostly your marks, plus up to 10 for a B.Ed and 5 for the interview. The internship runs from 3 November 2026 to 31 May 2027.
STI Jobs 2026 at a glance

- Post: School Teacher Intern (STI) in government schools.
- Stipend per month: Primary Rs38,000 · Elementary Rs40,000 · High and higher secondary Rs45,000.
- Age: 21 to 45 years.
- Who can apply: men and women (men are placed in boys' schools, women in girls' schools).
- Where: only schools in the tehsil of your permanent address, as on your CNIC.

Eligibility: which degree for which school
- Primary schools: at least BA or BSc.
- Elementary schools: MA, MSc, BS (Hons), BA or BSc.
- High and higher secondary schools: MA, MSc or BS (Hons) in the relevant subject.
- Preferred at every level: B.Ed or M.Ed.
- Experience: helpful, but not required.
Your qualification has to match the level and subject of the internship you apply for. A BS Physics graduate should look at science posts in high schools, not a primary post that any graduate can fill, because that is where the degree counts most.
How to apply on the STI portal, step by step
- Register on sti.pesrp.edu.pk with your 13-digit CNIC number and a password.
- Sign in with the same CNIC and password.
- Fill the Profile Builder: Personal Information, Academics, Work Experience and Professional Qualification. Enter your marks exactly as on your certificates.
- Open Available Internships and pick a post that matches your degree and level in your tehsil.
- Apply, then check progress under Track Application.
There is no CV upload in the main STI application: your online profile is your application. Treat it like one. Wrong marks, a missing B.Ed or a mistyped degree can cost you merit, and forged details void the placement even after joining. Keep your degrees, mark sheets and CNIC next to you while you fill it.

How STI merit is worked out
Under the STI policy, schools rank applicants out of 100 marks:
- BS degree: up to 55 marks (or Master up to 40 plus Bachelor up to 15).
- Intermediate: up to 15.
- Matric: up to 15.
- B.Ed or M.Ed: 10.
- Interview: up to 5.
Full marks for a degree need roughly 90% or more in the semester system or 80% or more in the annual system, and each lower band drops a step. In practice, two things decide most lists: your academic percentages and whether you have a B.Ed. The interview carries only 5 marks, but on a close merit list 2 or 3 marks move you several places. Check the STI POLICY tab on the portal for the exact table that applies to you.

Special education STI posts (separate deadline)
Punjab's Special Education Department has also advertised 74 STI positions: Attock 32, Jhelum 10, Chakwal and Talagang 24, and Murree 8. These are junior and senior special education teachers (hearing impaired, visually impaired, intellectual and physical disabilities) and speech therapists.
- Stipend: Rs40,000 (BS-16) or Rs45,000 (BS-17).
- Qualification: mostly an MA or BS in Special Education with the relevant specialisation.
- Age: 21 to 28, with relaxation as per rules.
- How to apply: by hand or courier to the special education institution, not online, by 27 October 2026.
- Documents: an updated CV, copies of CNIC, domicile, degrees and certificates, experience certificates if any, and two passport-size photos. Bring originals to the interview.
For these posts your CV is the first thing the committee reads. A neat CV made in the Pakistani format, with your degree, specialisation and any internship or volunteer work with special children, makes shortlisting easy.
Key dates for STI 2026
- 18 October (Sunday), 11:59 pm: last date to apply online.
- 23 October: initial merit lists on school notice boards.
- 26–27 October: objections and complaints.
- 29–30 October: interviews.
- 31 October: final merit lists.

Don't wait for the last evening. Portals slow down near deadlines, and applying early leaves time to fix a mistake in your profile.

What to bring to the STI interview
The interview committee is the school head, an education officer and a parent from the school council. Bring your original degrees, mark sheets, CNIC and B.Ed certificate, plus copies. Also bring a one-page teacher biodata or CV showing your subjects, the classes you can teach and any teaching practice. It gives the panel something to read while they talk to you, and it shows you are organised. Our guide to the teacher biodata format shows exactly what schools look for, and the teacher CV format post has a full filled-in sample.
Expect simple, practical questions: why you want to teach, how you would handle a noisy class, how you would explain a topic from your subject to Class 6. If you have a B.Ed, mention your teaching practice. Speak in the language the school teaches in.
Is STI worth it?
It is not permanent, and there is no travel allowance for interviews. But you get seven months of paid classroom experience in a government school, an experience certificate, and real teaching to put on your CV, which counts later in private school, academy and permanent government recruitment. For a fresh graduate who wants to teach, that is worth the application.
Whatever happens with STI, keep a clean, current biodata for job applications ready. Private schools hire through the whole session, and the teacher who can send a neat PDF on WhatsApp the same day usually gets the first call.
