Biodata Form for Job: What to Write, With a Sample (Pakistan)

Three ChatWrapper biodata form designs side by side: Bio-Data Form, Navy Professional and Minimal

The job ad says "send your biodata", the office peon hands you a blank form, or a principal asks for it on WhatsApp by evening. A clean biodata is often the very first thing an employer sees, and most people fill it in a hurry.

Quick answer: a biodata form for a job in Pakistan has six parts: personal details, contact details, education (degree, board, year, marks), experience, skills and languages, and a short declaration. Keep it to one page, write marks and years exactly as on your certificates, and attach a photo and CNIC copy only when the employer asks. A full sample is below.

What is a biodata form, and when is it used?

A biodata is a short, fact-first record about you. Unlike a CV, it gives a lot of room to personal details: your father's name, date of birth, CNIC, domicile, religion and marital status. That is why Pakistani schools, clinics, factories, local offices and government departments still ask for it.

You will usually be asked for a biodata when:

  • You are applying to a private school, college or academy.
  • A small business or local office wants a quick record before an interview.
  • A government or semi-government department (FPSC, PPSC, NTS-based tests) needs your details on file alongside the application.
  • A contractor or agency is shortlisting people for Gulf jobs in the UAE or Saudi Arabia.

If the job is at a multinational or listed on LinkedIn or Rozee.pk with "send your resume", a resume is usually the better fit. For everything else, a neat biodata form does the job.

Biodata format for job: every section, and how to fill it

1. Personal details

  • Full name: exactly as on your CNIC. No nicknames.
  • Father's name: as on your CNIC or matric certificate.
  • Date of birth: write it as 14-03-2001 or 14 March 2001. Match your matric certificate.
  • CNIC: only if asked. Double-check every digit.
  • Domicile: district and province, e.g. "Faisalabad, Punjab". This matters for government quota seats.
  • Religion and marital status: one word each. Write them if the form has the line; skip them if it does not.

2. Contact details

One mobile number you actually answer, one WhatsApp number if different, an email address that sounds professional (your name, not "cuteboy786") and your city. A full house address is only needed for government forms.

3. Education

Use a table with four columns: degree, board or institute, year, marks. Start with the highest degree. For matric and intermediate, write the board name (BISE Lahore, BISE Rawalpindi, Federal Board). Write marks as obtained/total or percentage, the same way your certificate shows them.

4. Experience

Newest job first. For each one: job title, employer, city, and dates (month and year). Add one line on what you did. Freshers can list internships, tuition, family business work or volunteer work. Do not leave the section empty; write "Fresh graduate" instead.

5. Skills and languages

Pick skills the job actually needs: MS Office, Excel, Urdu typing, Tally or QuickBooks, driving licence, customer dealing. For languages, write Urdu, English, and your mother tongue (Punjabi, Sindhi, Pashto, Saraiki, Balochi) with a simple level such as "fluent" or "good".

6. Declaration and signature

One line at the bottom: "I declare that the above information is correct to the best of my knowledge." Leave space for signature and date. Many government offices still expect this.

Biodata sample: a filled-in job biodata

Here is a simple biodata format filled in for an example applicant, so you can see the tone and level of detail.

How to fill biodata form neatly on your phone

Most people do not have a laptop or a printer at home, so the biodata gets typed on a phone. On ChatWrapper you type your details once, see a live preview as you go, and switch between designs such as Bio-Data Form, Navy Professional, Minimal or Executive Black without retyping anything. Your details are saved on your phone as you type, so you can come back later. The photo is always optional, and your CNIC number is never stored; it is only used to make the file.

When you are done, download a PDF for email or printing, or a picture to send on WhatsApp. If you are not sure which look suits the job, browse all the biodata templates first. Applying in Urdu? There is also an Urdu biodata design and a Bilingual one.

Common mistakes that get a biodata put aside

  1. Spelling your name differently from your CNIC or degree. This causes real problems at verification.
  2. Wrong marks or years. Copy them from the certificate, not from memory.
  3. A selfie as the photo. Use a passport-size photo with a plain light background and formal clothes.
  4. Two or three pages of filler. One page, unless you have many years of experience.
  5. Missing contact number, or a number that is switched off. Check it twice.
  6. Sending a blurry photo of a printed page. Send a PDF or a clear picture instead.
  7. Same biodata for every job. Move the most relevant experience and skills to the top for each application.

When to attach a photo, CNIC copy and documents

A biodata is the summary. The proof comes separately, and only when asked.

  • Photo: expected for schools, local offices, government jobs and Gulf agencies. Skip it for multinationals unless requested.
  • CNIC copy: attach for government, semi-government and bank jobs, or once a private employer moves you to the hiring stage. Do not post it in big WhatsApp groups.
  • Degrees and mark sheets: attach attested copies when the ad says so, usually for government posts and teaching jobs.
  • Domicile certificate: needed for provincial and federal government quota jobs.
  • Experience letters: bring them to the interview, or attach if the ad asks for "experience certificates".

Tip: keep one folder on your phone with clear scans of all of these. When a call comes, you can send everything in two minutes.

A short checklist before you send it

  • Name and father's name match your CNIC.
  • Education table has board, year and marks for every row.
  • Newest experience is first.
  • Phone number is correct and switched on.
  • File is a PDF or a clear picture, named "Hamza-Ali-Biodata.pdf", not "IMG_2045".

A good biodata form will not get you the job by itself, but a messy one can stop you from getting the call. Spend twenty minutes on it once, keep it updated, and you are ready the next time someone says "send your biodata". If you want a version focused only on job applications, the biodata for job page starts you on the right design.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a biodata and a CV?

A biodata focuses on personal details (father's name, date of birth, CNIC, domicile, religion, marital status) plus education and experience. A CV puts more weight on work history and achievements. In Pakistan, small offices, schools and government departments often ask for a biodata.

Should I put a photo on my biodata form for a job?

For most Pakistani schools, local offices and government jobs, yes: a recent passport-size photo with a plain background is expected. For multinationals and Gulf companies that ask for a resume, leave it off unless the ad asks for one.

Should I write my CNIC number on a biodata?

Write it only if the form or the job ad asks for it, which government and semi-government jobs usually do. For private jobs, your contact number and city are usually enough at the first stage.

How long should a biodata form be?

One page is ideal. If you have long experience, two pages is fine, but never pad it with things the employer did not ask for.

Can I make a biodata form on my phone?

Yes. On ChatWrapper you type your details once on your phone, watch a live preview and download it as a PDF or a picture. Every design is free and you do not need to sign up to start.
